Executive Summary
The client is one of the leading agribusiness organizations, serving the needs of more than 300 food and agriculture businesses. The Client’s Portal connects pork producers, consumers and subject matter experts across the world by providing a platform that provides needed information to consumers and producers. Users of the portal can search for information, find reference material and review fact sheets. They can also look for events related to the pork industry. The purpose is to collaborate with its clients, mapping out strategies & goals and winning in a dynamic and competitive industry.
Business Problem
The current application’s objective was to serve a rich user experience on their portal. The client was experiencing problems like less usability, ineffective Content Management system, lack of Advanced Search, and absence of Surveys & Reports. In addition to that, there were other technical issues, which fell short of expectations as outlined below:
- Constraint to upload video, audio or other electronic files as a component of the asset
- Poor response time pertaining to Search functionality
The Client needed a solution, which could improve usability, best usage of Content Management system, enhanced Advanced Search, and provision of Surveys & Reports in order to overcome existing limitations. The Client engaged GSS America for migrating existing portal (Liferay 3.6 to Liferay 4.2.2), adding new functionality and improving the response time of the existing business portal.
